Birthyear Resolution 2026

Sleep is eluding me tonight, and I have to get up with the chickens for an early flight in the morning. So I figured I would go ahead and post this now.

Every year around my birthday, I make a resolution. Not a New Year's resolution. A birth year resolution.

If you know anything about travel days, you know there is no better time to crack open a book.

This all started years ago when my mother was very ill. I never knew if we would have another New Year's together, so I stopped waiting for January 1st and started honoring the date that has always been mine. It felt more real. More urgent. More mine. She is no longer with me and because of her, I have never stopped.

My birthday isn't until August, but this year I'm preparing a little early. I've learned that if I want a resolution to stick, I need to start building the mindset and habits before the date arrives, not after.

This year, I am committing to a three-month intentional reading journey, starting with Excuses Be Gone by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Even as a certified behavioral life coach and seasoned business professional, I still have moments when I need to get out of my own way. We all do. Growth does not care about your age, your title, or your résumé.

I am not getting any younger, but I am getting wiser. Part of that wisdom is knowing that being still, being honest, and being willing to learn are never signs of weakness. They are the work.

Over the next three months, I will be checking in here and posing questions that I think we all sit with at one point or another. I'll share a little along the way, though I will keep some things close. Social media has its place, and so does privacy.

However you choose to show up is completely fine. Comment here, send me a message privately, or simply take the question and journal on your own time. All of it counts. None of it is wrong. We are all works in progress. Every single one of us.
